I've tweaked this website a billion times and I think I finally have it just the way I like it. So, it's officially launched and now I'll start inundating people with it! I'll use this blog to update on my planning/progress approaching the ride... and once we're on the trail I'll post updates here as well!
After more than a year and a half of planning, the ride is less than one year away... but there's still SO much to do! I'm trying not to get overwhelmed and just take one thing at a time. This week I finally bought my saddle bags. I was impulsively browsing the tack section in Green's Feed in Panther Valley when I found saddlebags that I really liked, and they were on sale! How could I not buy them?? It felt significant to purchase such a necessary piece of equipment for the ride. Lots more the buy... but one thing at a time.
Sage and I are not getting in a lot of riding right now... but that's because I'm working like crazy. We did trailer out to Thomas Creek at Mt. Rose on Wednesday for a wonderful all-day ride. Sage didn't care that he'd never been in the forest before, or about the hikers, mountain bikers, or loose dogs. He crossed every water crossing willingly, and was nice and calm through the whole 10-mile or so ride. What a champ!
Up next: training for the Nevada Day Parade. I feel incredibly honored to have been asked to ride as part of the Wild Horse Preservation League's Color Guard, carrying the Nevada state flag. I'll also be pouring over maps to finalize the day-to-day itinerary for the ride as soon as possible... and then it's time to start hounding businesses for sponsorship.
