What are we up to?

Friends, we've been quiet on the website for awhile but that doesn't mean things aren't happening! Life is carrying on as it always does and we're all staying busy. I wanted to share a few updates:

  • The most common question I get from people is "When are you going to do another ride?" Well, of course I want to get out on the trail right now!! But as you recall, both of the rides I have done so far have taken several years to plan and prepare. Not to mention all the vacation time and money we need to save to do these rides! I don't know when we'll be heading out for the next adventure, but you can be sure that we will. First I have to find the right trail that inspires me :)

  • In the meantime, I've started a new project. Next year I plan to launch Sagebrush Rider Magazine, a free, monthly, online magazine focused entirely on Nevada's equestrian community. This is a pretty massive undertaking, but I think there is a huge need for something like this and I think I can do it well. The magazine will be taking up a lot of my time from here on out, but I'm really excited about the potential to bring together equestrians around the state.

  • That doesn't mean I've given up on the NDR! Our mission to promote wild horse adoption is far from over. There is A LOT happening on a federal level with wild horses, especially with the new administration. Our wild horses face an even greater threat than ever before. I will continue to advocate and promote wild horse adoption. I really believe our long rides have been helpful on a small level, so when I can do another one - I will.

  • We're still booking ride presentations through 2017, so keep checking the schedule on the home page for updates. I've been so honored to give presentations to folks around the country - horse people, school kids, senior groups, etc. What a great opportunity to share our adventures and to promote wild horses.

  • Why am I so optimistic about adoption? Well, take a look at the chart below. For the second year in a row, wild horse adoptions were up! 2016 saw a 4.7% increase from 2015. It's small, but any progress is good progress.

So all is well here! I thank you all for your continued support of the NDR project and wild horses. Stay tuned for our next adventure :)

It is good to know that all is well with your business. But I suggest you do not go back to horse riding. I know that it is not illegal to do so, but I am against all forms of animal abuse and I believe that horses should not be ridden by humans. They are not strong enough to withstand the weight of human beings and there have been cases when their backs get crushed because of humans riding them. I hope you will think this through.

I am hoping that your new project, which was to launch Sage Brush Rider Magazine, will become successful. It may take a lot of time, but in the end, it will become worth it. Anyway, since I was a kid, I really wanted to ride a horse, but I am a little bit scared. I think you love horses. I am one of those people who will support your NDR project and wild horses. Hoping you could catch up soon so that we can see your new adventure. Thank you so much in advance!
